At Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana it’s obvious where our preferences lay when it comes to pizza. Since 1925 we have been serving our original Napoletana tomato pies out of our New Haven location. Generations of families have grown up eating our thin crust, crispy, and chewy pies. However, we still run into people who prefer deep dish pizza over Napoletana pies! While we won’t start any arguments over personal pizza preferences, here is why we prefer Napoletana pies:
Less Calories and Carbs: When it comes to pizza, sometimes less is more. Our thin crust pizza has fewer calories compared to deep dish pizza, with all the flavorful taste that comes from coal fired pizza. Enjoy the flavor with no regret.
Crispy & Chewy Crust: Our thin crust pizza is legendary for its crispy and chewy crust. The type of chewiness that keeps our customers coming back decade after decade. This crust is impossible to find elsewhere and very difficult to duplicate even if using other coal fired ovens. There’s a reason we’ve been voted best pizza in the world, and our signature crispy and chewy crust is part of it.
Toppings: When it comes to toppings, thin crust pizza is the best delivery vehicle. Deep dish pizza has so much dough that it over powers the toppings. When you eat thin crust pizza, you can appreciate the toppings bite by bite!
Harder to Fold: One of the fundamentals of eating pizza is the pizza fold. You know what we are talking about. It’s the optimal way to eat a pizza. A timeless way to get your pie form hand to mouth. When you eat deep dish, they fold is impossible! It turns eating a pizza from a one hand task, to a two-handed task. In fact, many deep dish places recommend eating pizza with a fork and knife. Who does that!?
